RUTHIN SCHOOL

A-levels and GSCE

Ruthin School is founded in 1824. The School moved to its present site in the 1980s and was honored by a visit from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to mark its septcentenary in 1984.

Ruthin is a very small traditional English boarding school taking students from Form 1-A-Levels.  The total population is about 300 students with about 150 in A-levels.  Unlike many other traditional English boarding schools, Ruthin runs the special 18-month or 1.5 year A-level course which starts in January each year.  Its results are outstanding.

Boys and girls are accommodated in separate boarding houses each of which has a resident Houseparent and an Assistant Houseparent.  Staff look after students in the evenings, half-term (long weekend break half way in a term) and Easter holidays.

A full range of extra curricular activities are available for all pupils.  They are also taught to develop skills valued by employers and universities.  They can take part in a number of character-building activities where a wide range of transferable skills are developed, including the opportunity to attend camps and courses in the vacations.  In the Sixth Form, prefects are selected and given the opportunity to demonstrate leadership skills by assisting staff in day-to-day school activities.  Students also volunteer in local hospitals, nurseries and charities.

The all-inclusive boarding and tuition annual fees are £40,500 (2020/2021).
