CONCORD COLLEGE

A-levels and GCSE

Concord College is one of the top tutorial boarding schools for boys and girls in the UK. It is located in the medieval town of Shrewsbury; just over three hours drive from London. It sits on fifty acres of beautiful countryside land, and has excellent teaching, recreation and boarding facilities. Most of its 520 students are accommodated in single study bedrooms, with a few in twin-bedded rooms.  Some single rooms have en-suite.  All rooms are centrally heated, carpeted and have a washbasin. Laundry is done once a week

Founded more than sixty years ago under an education charity trust, the College has an outstanding track record of getting students into Oxford and Cambridge and other top universities for studies in medicine, law, engineering, the sciences and economics. While it emphasizes A-Level studies, Concord College also runs a very successful junior school, which takes in students for Form 3 to Form 5, and prepares them for the GCSE/iGCSE.

Classes begin at 8.45 am Monday to Friday and end at 4.00 pm. Students are given a break from 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm. Before and after supper (dinner),  students are required to go for prep, i.e. supervised self-study. The College bell rings for the last time at 8.45 pm.  Saturday mornings are devoted to weekly tests.

The weekend is spent on recreation and sports. The College has a modern sports complex, performing theatre, music conservatory, dance studios, an indoor heated swimming pool, and a modern purpose-built kitchen where students who wish to cook during the weekend may do so. On Wednesday and Saturday, College-hired buses take students to the nearby town of Shrewsbury for shopping or cinema shows.

Boarding fees for the academic year 2020/21 will be £15,000 per term (£45,000 per annum).
